Indiana Regional Medical Center is the only regional hospital that offers a dedicated Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine to help heal chronic wounds as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy for nonhealing wounds.
The Center for Wound Healing offers services to help heal wounds such as diabetic ulcers, lower leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (bed sores), bone infections, gangrene, skin tears or lacerations, radiation burns, and postoperation wounds and infections. If wounds are not treated in a timely and effective manner, they can become infected. The Center for Wound Healing is an outpatient program. Patients heal their wounds through weekly visits with the center’s doctors and wound specialists.
The Center for Wound Healing also offers the only hyperbaric oxygen therapy program in the Indiana region. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT, simply allows the patient to breathe 100 percent oxygen at increased atmospheric pressures, which promotes healing and fights infection. The therapy is an effective and painless way to heal wounds.
